Salam/Kia ora/Ahlan Wa Sahlan, I'm Hend Zaki.
I am a facilitator, consultant, researcher, and community connector with more than 15 years of experience working across government, regional, and international organisations. My work focusses on identity, belonging, inclusion, and leadership, helping individuals, communities, and organisations create environments where people can connect, belong, grow and thrive together.
I design and deliver workshops, mentoring initiatives and leadership programmes that help women and emerging leaders build confidence, navigate challenges, and step into their full potential.

Throughout my career, I have worked extensively in the diversity, equity, inclusion, refugee, and migrant sectors, including roles at Health New Zealand, Ministry of Business Innovation and Employment (MBIE), and Immigration New Zealand.
I am passionate and experienced in creating meaningful opportunities for connection, belonging, and professional growth. I have founded the Women of Colour in the Public Sector Network and Rahma Sisters. These networks are safe spaces for women with intersectional identities to connect, support one another, and thrive together.
My approach is grounded in both research and lived experience. I hold a PhD in Politics and International Relations from the University of Auckland, where my research explored identity and belonging among Muslims born and raised in Aotearoa New Zealand and Australia. My research provides practical recommendations for creating more inclusive environments for Muslims and people from ethnically diverse backgrounds. The insights from this work continue to inform the programmes, workshops, and initiatives I design today.
